How do I schedule an appointment?

There are several ways, but the easiest way is to look above and click the "SCHEDULE NOW" button.  It will lead you to our Vagaro.com listing.  You can also download the Vagaro app on your phone and search for La Jolla Acne Specialists.  From there, you can view our availability, services and pricing.  The phone app is the most popular choice.  If you have any issues, you can always text or call us, 858.333.2556.

What do I need to do to prepare for my first visit, aka New Client Consultation?

If you look above, click on the "OUR SERVICES" button and you can find the section on preparing for your first visit.

Do you take health insurance?

We do not take insurance nor can we assist you in billing yours.  Methods of payment accepted are credit cards and cash.  If you have a FSA/HSA credit card, we can attempt to run it as sometimes it will go through, however, most times there are back-end restrictions that prevent the transaction.  You must have a primary (cash or credit) form of payment in addition, so please bring both to your visit.

Why do I have to enter my credit card to schedule my New Client Consultation with Vagaro?

Your credit card information is required to reserve any and all appointments made with LJAS.  Your information is securely stored in Vagaro’s database.  In fact, even we can not see all  your credit card information.  Vagaro conducts an instant validation to make sure the credit card is legitimate, and there is no charge associated with this.  Your info is then saved so we can use the credit card to charge you for future product purchases, in case you can not be present, and to enforce our cancellation/no show policy that you agree to when scheduling your consultation.


You can always use a different card when paying for service/products during a live visit.

How soon will my skin get better and when will my acne clear?

Results vary per person.  We give a general guideline of 3-6 months.  However, some individuals get amazing results sooner, and some may take longer.  Every person's skin and lifestyle is different, which is  a factor in skin clearance.  The best key to success, is to follow the individualized regimen that Christina has recommended and keep your  bi-weekly visits.  Our goal is to get you to a Maintenance regimen, where you don't see us that often, or sometimes, even  at all!

What is your cancellation policy?

Our 48 hour Cancellation Policy is found throughout our website, on Vagaro, and Yelp.  Please go to our Home page and you can scroll down to review details. By scheduling an appointment at LJAS, you agree to the any and all cancellation policies in place, at any time, regardless of any changes that occur which you may or may not be aware of.  


We adhere to a very strict policy to make sure everyone has an opportunity to schedule their appointments and see Christina to achieve clear skin! 

Do I have to buy the acne products that you offer?

Yes! One of the main reasons individuals struggle with acne is due to using the wrong products. Christina will go over the products that we offer and explain how they help clear your skin.  We will not be able to offer you treatments unless you purchase and use the regimen recommended at your consultation. Remember, you are contacting us for a reason and we are here to help!  Using the right products is just as important as lifestyle modifications.

I have Acne Scarring and/or Hyperpigmentation, but I don't have active acne...

LJAS can help with scarring and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation only if you have ACTIVE acne.  However, if you suffer from these issues and don't have active acne, Dr. Anna of BioMed Health, with whom we work with, can help you.  Please contact Dr. Anna at www.biomedhealthcenter.com and let them know we sent you!
